You're not Thinking like a Magician

Hey don't rip on Castiglione. Every time someone opens a bottle of beer in my apartment they're rewarded with:

The 1-0 pitch . . . swing and ground ball . . . stabbed by Foulke . . . he has it . . . he underhands to first. And the Boston Red sox are the world champions. For the first time in 86 years the Red Sox have won baseball's world series. Can you believe it?

It never gets old.

But I kinda get why the Indians announcer gets so excited over a preseason game . . .

Turns out that Castiglione got his start in my neck of the woods — in Youngstown. And from there he went on to call Tribe games.

I don't doubt that in 1983, the Boston job was a promotion (it probably would be now, too).

The Red Sox crew are great in their own way: soothing voices of the summer, two guys happily chatting about baseball. If I were that girl in the Stephen King story who was lost in the woods with the radio, I would probably appreciate Joe and Trup's "even keel" approach.

Hammy, on the other hand, would have scared the shit out of her and had her convinced she was being attacked by lions.

Which, come to think of it, sounds a bit like an awful 24 episode, but that's neither here nor there . . .
